CNN Post Tips for Booking Hot Restaurants
CNN ran a story in its travel section today giving readers some good tips on how to get into the most popular restaurants without getting a reservation four years in advance (well, really only two months). The article itself is a little basic and never talks about greasing any palms, which may be a relief for frugal people like myself.
The main thrust of the article is that a restaurant never wants to turn away business, regardless of its popularity, so if you make yourself an attractive consumer (well dressed, patient and polite) then you are more likely to be slipped in under the wire without a reservation. They tell you to just be nice to the staff and let them know you don’t have a reservation but you’re willing to wait… then the end of the article says to have a contingency plan because being nice doesn’t always work.
